Dr. Mark Weiman DMD – Director

Dr. Mark Weiman DMDMark Weiman grew up in Chicago and Evanston, Illinois. He was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point by Congressman Donald Rumsfeld. After graduation from the academy in 1971, he served in various places in the U.S. in the field artillery. He main duty station was with the 2nd Armored Division, also known as the “Hell on Wheels” Division.

Upon leaving the military Mark received an opportunity to study dental medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He used the GI Bill to help fund his education at Penn. He studied with many of the people that he had served with or trained with in the military. One student had spent time with the infantry in Vietnam. Two other students had sent time flying choppers into hot LZ’s in Vietnam. One of Mark’s favorite professors was the father of a man that Mark had served with. Upon graduating from dental school in 1978, Mark decided to return to Chicago to begin his career as a dentist.

For over 40 years, Mark practiced dentistry in Chicago. The majority of his time was spent in the Loop, but he also found time to practice in some of the most underserved neighborhood in Chicago. Service in the Loop was rewarding. Service in the underserved neighborhoods was equally rewarding. His patient population came from everywhere: medicine, law, show business, military and education. Mark gave his best effort while treating everyone.

Mark developed new techniques in dental medicine. He stepped up to treat conditions that many professionals thought were not treatable. His patients enjoyed coming to Mark and Mark enjoyed treating them.

While living and working in the Chicago area, Mark has been associated with the Chicago Dental Society,  the Illinois State Dental Society, the American legion, the Naval War College Foundation, and the Foreign Policy Research Institute. Mark has had leadership positions and been a Director with SOS (Service Over Self), the Coalition of Veterans Organizations (CVO), and the Illinois State Veterans Advisory Group.

In the 1990s Mark was invited to the Czech Republic to advise them on how dental medicine is practiced in a free society. In 2010 Mark ran for Congress as a Republican in the 7th Congressional District.

Mark enjoys working with veterans in any way that he can. He feels that he owes them for fighting so hard to preserve what is so important to him. Mark wants to make certain that veterans stay healthy just in case their “special set of skills” are ever needed again.
